15 Times Table Five-Day Plan
About 10 minutes a day. Each day names the facts to practice and one thing to do away from the screen. Tick the box when the day is done.
Day 1: the first half
Say 15 x 1 to 15 x 6 out loud, then skip count by 15s: 15, 30, 45, 60, 75, 90.
Tip: Take the 10s and add half again: for 15 x 6, 10 x 6 = 60, half of 60 is 30, and 60 plus 30 is 90. Counting quarter hours around a clock face shows the same steps.
Away from the screen: Count quarter hours on a clock face: 15, 30, 45 and 60 minutes. Keep counting past the hour to 90 minutes.
Day 2: the second half and the turnarounds
Say 15 x 7 to 15 x 12, then flip each one: 7 x 15, 8 x 15 and 9 x 15 have the same answers.
Pattern: The answers end in 5 or 0 in turn, so odd multiples finish in 5 and even multiples finish in 0. They run 15, 30, 45, 60 and 75, each step adding one more quarter hour.
Away from the screen: For 15 x 7 to 15 x 12, write ten times the number, then half of it, then add the two out loud.
Day 3: the 3 hardest facts
Say 15 x 7, 15 x 9 and 15 x 11 five times each, then go through the whole table once in mixed order.
Why these: 15 x 7, 15 x 9 and 15 x 11 have an odd number to halve, so the half step ends in 5. Work out the 10s first, then add the half of that.
Away from the screen: Practice the three hardest 15s facts with coins: dimes for the ten part and nickels for the five part.
Day 4: the whole table, mixed
Ask all 12 facts of the 15 times table in mixed order, out loud. Repeat any miss at the end.
Away from the screen: Ask mixed 15s facts while doing chores. Each right answer earns one quarter hour on a paper clock to color in.
Day 5: the self-check
Answer the 12 questions below on paper, with no help and no timer.
Away from the screen: Keep the answer key face down until the end. Answer the 12 questions with a pencil, then check them together. Practice each miss three more times.
