The 11 times table starts with the easiest pattern of all: up to 11 x 9, the answer is the digit written twice.

11, 22, 33 up to 99, then 110, 121 and 132. The pattern breaks after 9, which is where most mistakes happen.
Tip for the 11 times table
Up to 9, double the digit: 11 x 6 = 66. For 11 x 11 and 11 x 12, add ten times the number to the number: 110 + 11 = 121.
The 3 hardest facts
- 11 × 12 = 132
- 11 × 11 = 121
- 11 × 10 = 110
11 x 12, 11 x 11 and 11 x 10 break the repeat pattern. Practice them on their own until they feel as easy as 11 x 3.
Turnaround facts
Swapping the numbers gives the same answer, so each fact below is learned once and used twice.
- 11 × 1 = 1 × 11 = 11
- 11 × 2 = 2 × 11 = 22
- 11 × 3 = 3 × 11 = 33
- 11 × 4 = 4 × 11 = 44
- 11 × 5 = 5 × 11 = 55
- 11 × 6 = 6 × 11 = 66
- 11 × 7 = 7 × 11 = 77
- 11 × 8 = 8 × 11 = 88
- 11 × 9 = 9 × 11 = 99
- 11 × 10 = 10 × 11 = 110
- 11 × 12 = 12 × 11 = 132

Questions parents ask
Do schools still teach the 11s and 12s?
Many US classrooms focus on facts up to 10 x 10, while others go to 12 x 12. Learning the 11s is quick, so it rarely hurts.
Why does 11 x 11 equal 121?
It is 11 tens plus 11 ones: 110 + 11 = 121. Splitting it this way works for any number times 11.
