Tip for the 4 times table
Double it, then double it again: for 4 x 7, double 7 to get 14, then double 14 to get 28. Say both steps out loud at first.
The 3 hardest facts
- 4 × 7 = 28
- 4 × 8 = 32
- 4 × 6 = 24
4 x 7, 4 x 8 and 4 x 6 are where most errors land. The double-double trick turns each one into two easy steps.
Turnaround facts
Swapping the numbers gives the same answer, so each fact below is learned once and used twice.

- 4 × 3 = 3 × 4 = 12
- 4 × 5 = 5 × 4 = 20
- 4 × 6 = 6 × 4 = 24
- 4 × 7 = 7 × 4 = 28
- 4 × 8 = 8 × 4 = 32
- 4 × 9 = 9 × 4 = 36
- 4 × 10 = 10 × 4 = 40
- 4 × 11 = 11 × 4 = 44
- 4 × 12 = 12 × 4 = 48
